Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search box goes directly to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies any result. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained so we can respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the server may automatically receive standard technical visit data:
- Page-view dates and times
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- IP address assigned to the device
- Visited pages and time spent on them
- Referring site, when available
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help us understand traffic in aggregate, including popular pages and common exit points. A browser can block cookies, though doing so may change how parts of the site work.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a submitted search to the correct outside provider
- Maintaining site availability, speed, and security
- Diagnosing faults and repairing technical problems
- Measuring which pages are useful or need improvement
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The site identifies official custodians for Abbeville County records, including the sheriff, local courts, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, and the South Carolina Sex Offender Registry Tool. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not compiled into a consumer report or a criminal-record file about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the site's search boxes. Their privacy policies govern data submitted to those tools. Each provider sets its own retention and sharing rules, which we do not control. Review the applicable policy before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Abbeville County offices, South Carolina agencies, courts, legal resources, or third-party tools. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read it before providing personal details.
Some advertising companies may track activity across websites to select targeted ads. That processing takes place through their systems.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Analytics vendors that measure traffic and performance
- Search providers that process a submitted query
- Advertising networks serving ads on site pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected information. No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Applicable law may provide additional rights. South Carolina public-record access is governed by the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act, S.C. Code §§30-4-10 through 30-4-165, while criminal-identification and registry dissemination provisions appear in S.C. Code Title 23, Chapter 3. Those public-agency laws do not turn this private site into a government records custodian. You may still ask us to:
- Provide a copy of personal data we hold about you
- Correct personal information that is inaccurate
- Delete personal data, when the request applies
- Stop certain forms of processing where an opt-out is available
Updates to This Policy
