Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to and use of this website. Reading its content, opening a page, or submitting a search means you agree to the terms below. Do not continue using the site if you do not accept them.

NO FCRA USE. This is a private website with no local, South Carolina, or federal government affiliation. Neither the site nor its advertising partners offers a service for credit decisions, employment screening, insurance underwriting, tenant screening, or another purpose regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The site routes visitors to Abbeville County and South Carolina criminal-record sources. It is neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This private reference site operates independently of government. It does not store official criminal records, retrieve them, perform official checks, or submit documents for a visitor.

Its role is to identify record custodians, including the Abbeville County Sheriff's Office, local courts, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, and South Carolina Sex Offender Registry Tool, and to connect users with outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

You agree that you will not:

  • Use the site in violation of federal, South Carolina, or local law
  • Threaten, stalk, or harass anyone with information found here
  • Use site content for a hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decision
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any system or restricted area
  • Send bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools against the pages
  • Disrupt service performance or prevent access by another visitor

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Site or linked-tool information must not be used to stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or unlawfully discriminate against a person. South Carolina gives registry misuse special consequences. Under S.C. Code §23-3-510, using South Carolina Sex Offender Registry Tool information to injure, harass, or commit a crime can increase criminal penalties. Registry access exists for safety awareness, not vigilante conduct or unlawful discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not produce consumer reports, credit reports, or official background checks. Our advertising partners do not provide site tools for assessing applicants, renters, insurance risks, or credit. You agree not to use site or linked-tool data to:

  • Make an employment decision
  • Evaluate a tenant or housing application
  • Set insurance terms or judge creditworthiness
  • Determine eligibility for a permit, license, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated activity

Use the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division or a compliant consumer reporting agency when an authorized purpose requires an official or FCRA-compliant report.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is not legal advice. General information about Abbeville County records cannot determine how a warrant, charge, conviction, or expungement law applies to an individual matter. Seek advice from a licensed South Carolina attorney.

6. No Warranties

All services and content are offered "as is." We make no guarantee that:

  • Site or partner results are complete, accurate, or current
  • Access will remain uninterrupted
  • Pages contain no errors, vulnerabilities, or bugs
  • An outside search service will return a correct or full result

Criminal records can change when charges are filed, amended, dismissed, sealed, or expunged. Gaps and delays can occur. Nothing here is an official statement by an Abbeville County court, the sheriff, SLED, or another government agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may open county offices, court portals, South Carolina agencies, legal resources, or external search services. We do not manage those destinations and are not responsible for their content, data practices, prices, or availability. Review the destination's terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Abbeville County Criminal History or its content partners own the site's text, logos, graphics, and code. Written permission is required to copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from that material.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, we are not liable for harm arising from site use, including reliance on content found here or through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your site use or breach of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

South Carolina law governs these terms. A dispute arising from use of the site must be brought in a court located in South Carolina. Public-record access involving state agencies is separately governed by the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act, S.C. Code §§30-4-10 through 30-4-165.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms at any time. A revision takes effect when it is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or terminated at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. The affected language will be limited only as far as needed for enforcement.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be directed through the Contact page.
